Hello everyone:
First, allow me to
thank Phil (Chapter
216 Vice President)
for so generously
sharing information
about our project
with all of you.
Since 1989, the
Vietnam Center and
Archive have been
dedicated to
collecting and
preserving the
history of our
nation's Vietnam
veterans with the
honor and dignity it
deserves. Since
then, we have grown
into the largest
non-Federal archive
in the country with
approximately 20
million pages of
material. This
includes everything
imaginable -
documents, photos,
slides, maps, films
(8mm, super 8mm,
16mm), audio
recordings (cassette
and reel-t-reel),
diaries, letters,
equipment, weapons,
and more.
We also have the
Virtual Vietnam
Archive - the
largest Vietnam War
related online
archive in the
country. We have
more than 2.6
million pages of
material online and
add about 25,000 new
pages each
month. Our oral
history
project records your
history through
interviews ensuring
that your memories
are preserved as a
part of their
historical record.
Lastly, for veterans
who donate their
collection materials
to the Vietnam
Archive, once we
have digitized them,
we will return
copies on CDROM or
DVD.
I hope you find this
information
helpful. As Phil
mentioned, you can
learn more about us
online at
www.vietnam.ttu.edu.
Please let me know
if you have any
questions about what
we do and if you
would like to
participate in our
project to preserve
the history of the
Vietnam War. We are
truly honored to be
working with our
nation's Vietnam
Veterans to preserve
your history of
service to our
country.
Very best regards,
Steve
Stephen Maxner,
Ph.D.

Center
